Jean-Morlet Chair at Cirm Luminy in Marseille
The Jean-Morlet Chair gives international researchers in the field of mathematical sciences the opportunity to establish an ambitious programme of events while in residence for six months at the Centre International de Rencontres Mathématiques (CIRM) in Marseille, France.
Together with a locally-based project leader, the Chair sets up a six-month research programme that includes 1 large Conference, 1 Research School mostly aimed at young researchers and/or PhD students, 1 or 2 Small Groups, 1 or 2 Research in Pairs events and a programme of invitations. Financial support comes from CIRM, Aix-Marseille Université and Ville de Marseille as main sponsors. NSF is a regular sponsor. Logistical and organizational support is provided by CIRM.
The current semester on KPZ Universality and Directed Polymers will run till July 2017 and is headed by Konstantin Khanin (University of Toronto) and Local project leader Senya Shlosman (Aix-Marseille Université). It will be followed by a semester on Tiling and Discrete Geometry headed by Shigeki Akiyama (University of Tsukuba) and Pierre Arnoux (Aix-Marseille Université).
