Creation of Computo, journal in statistics

Science ouverte

Computo is a new journal from the Société Française de Statistiques (French statistics society) publishing articles on statistics and machine learning.

Discover Computo

This journal aims to promote computational/algorithmic contributions in statistics and machine learning that provide a better understanding of which models or methods are most appropriate to answer a specific scientific question. To achieve this goal, Computo goes beyond traditional static publications by drawing on technical advances in programming and scientific reporting.

An open-access journal with reproducible contributions

As an open-access journal, Computo is free of charge for readers and authors. Users are authorized to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search or link to the full text of articles, or to use them for any other lawful purpose, without requesting prior authorization. Reproducibility of digital results is a prerequisite for publication in Computo.

The journal welcomes the following types of contributions:

  • New methods with original developments in statistics/machine learning, or numerical studies that illustrate theoretical results in statistics/machine learning;

  • Case studies or surveys of statistical/machine learning methods to answer a specific (type of) question in data analysis, neutral comparison studies that provide insight into when, how and why the methods being compared perform well or less well;

  • Software/tutorial articles that present implementations of statistical/machine learning algorithms or highlight the use of a software package/toolbox. For these articles, we expect not only a description of an existing implementation, but also the study of a concrete use case. Where appropriate, a comparison with related work and an appropriate comparative analysis are also expected.

The French Statistical Society

The unprecedented accumulation of data and the resulting needs now place statistics and data science at the heart of the challenges facing the contemporary world. Founded in 1997, the Société Française de Statistique (SFdS) is a learned society whose mission is to promote the use and understanding of statistics, and to foster its methodological development. It is a privileged forum for meetings, exchanges and reflection among the major players in the field, from both the public and private sectors.
