News from ICM 2018 & 2022
Since 1897, the International Congress of Mathematicians has helped shape the history of mathematics in the 20th and 21st centuries.
It is during this meeting that several prizes, such as Fields medals, are awarded. The next International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM) will be hosted by Rio de Janeiro from August 1st to 9th, 2018.
In its November newsletter, the International Mathematical Union seeks nominations for the prizes to be awarded at the 2018 International Congress of Mathematicians. Nominations should be sent by December 31st.
The International Mathematical Union (IMU) received two bids for hosting the International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM) in 2022: Paris, France; and St. Petersburg, Russia. Both bids have the support of the European Mathematical Society (EMS). The Executive Committee of the IMU will make site visits, and based on this and on the bids, it will make a recommendation to the General Assembly which will decide on the venue of ICM 2022 at its meeting in São Paulo 29-30 July, 2018 prior to the ICM 2018 in Rio de Janeiro.
