International Research Laboratories
In order to strengthen its international base and structure a significant and lasting presence of its scientific staff abroad, Insmi has set up 12 International Research Laboratories (IRL) and is a secondary institute on 1 IRL. Temporary assignments (CNRS staff) or delegations (teaching and research staff) are offered through an annual campaign. These involve stays of between 6 months and 2 years as an expatriate. The IRLs operate like UMRs with their own management. They therefore organise their research activities and offer a range of events (themed semesters, conferences, schools, colloquia) as well as invitations. This can also give rise to shorter assignments to be organised directly with the IRLs.
