Jean-Stéphane DhersinScientific deputy director
Jean-Stéphane Dhersin is a Scientific Deputy Director of the Institut National des Sciences Mathématiques et de leurs Interactions in charge of Europe and international relations and is in charge of MODCOV19, a platform coordinating modeling actions related to epidemics.
Born in 1968, he is an alumnus of the École Normale Supérieure de Cachan and holds an agrégation in mathematics. He defended a PhD thesis in probability in 1997 at the Pierre and Marie Curie University. He was recruited as a lecturer at Paris Descartes University in 1998 and joined the MAP5 (CNRS/University of Paris mathematics laboratory). Since 2008, he is a professor at the University Sorbonne Paris-Nord and a member of the LAGA (CNRS/University Sorbonne Paris-Nord mathematics laboratory).
A specialist in probability theory, he is interested in Super-Processes, coalescent processes, and more recently in applications to biology and epidemiology.
Jean-Stéphane Dhersin has been in charge of the Paris Graduate School of Mathematics program of the Fondation des Sciences de Mathématiques de Paris (FSMP) and a member of the board of directors of the Société de Mathématiques Appliquées et Industrielles (SMAI), of which he was treasurer for one year. He has directed the International Associated Laboratory Formath Vietnam.
